White Paper on transport

A transformation of the European transport system will only be possible through a combination of manifold initiatives at all levels. The various actions and measures indicated in this roadmap will be further elaborated. The Commission will prepare appropriate legislative proposals in the next decade with key initiatives to be put forward during the current mandate. Each of its proposals will be preceded by a thorough impact assessment, considering EU added value and subsidiarity aspects. The Commission will ensure its actions increase the competitiveness of transport while delivering the minimum 60 % reduction of GHG emissions from transport needed by 2050, orienting itself along the 10 goals which should be seen as benchmarks.

Analysis of cost of ownership and the policy support required to enable industrialisation of fuel cell trucks

whitePaper | September 5, 2022

Green hydrogen, made from renewable electricity, can be used as part of a sustainable energy system to provide grid balancing services and to decarbonise a wide range of 'hard to reach' end uses. Once such end-use is the long-haul, heavy-duty trucking sector, where hydrogen fuel cell vehicles are able to provide the long range and fast refuelling required by end users. The deployment of hydrogen trucking must start now and ramp-up quickly if the ambitious emissions reductions targets of net-zero by 2050 are to be achieved. This will allow the sector to scale-up green hydrogen and truck production volumes, and cost reductions to be realised

Improving the Last Mile With Secure, Unattended Asset-Transfer Solutions

whitePaper | April 6, 2020

With final-mile deliveries on the rise, it’s more critical than ever to efficiently and securely transfer assets between business partners. Despite improvements in route planning, dock scheduling, and transportation-management systems, the biggest problem remains — sometimes there’s simply no one available to receive the delivery.

SECURING THE SOFTWARE SUPPLY CHAIN

whitePaper | August 15, 2022

Cyberattacks are conducted via cyberspace and target an enterprise’s use of cyberspace for the purpose of disrupting, disabling, destroying, or maliciously controlling a computing environment or infrastructure; or destroying the integrity of the data or stealing controlled information.1 Recent cyberattacks such as those executed against SolarWinds and its customers, and exploits that take advantage of vulnerabilities such as Log4j, highlight weaknesses within software supply chains, an issue which spans both commercial and open source software and impacts both private and Government enterprises. Accordingly, there is an increased need for software supply chain security awareness and cognizance regarding the potential for software supply chains to be weaponized by nation state adversaries using similar tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs)

Scudo: A Proposal for Resolving Software Supply Chain Insecurities in Vehicles

whitePaper | July 15, 2022

For many years supply chain security appears to have been something of a second-tier priority for both software developers and the companies that rely upon their product. It was more common to focus attention on what happens after the software is built, through code reviews, penetration testing, and the development and implementation of patches and updates. This type of approach overlooks the very real possibility that, even with all the efforts mentioned above, end users still have no guarantee they are actually installing the application originally conceived as a code base. Over time, this somewhat myopic vision has given malicious actors multiple opportunities to insert malware or damage images. But, recent events have rapidly forced the industry to take a wider perspective on how software security is defined.

2022 Supply-Chain Disruptions For Automotive Industry

whitePaper | June 1, 2022

The world is walking out of the shadow of the COVID-19 lockdown. However, the pandemic has long-lasting side effects on the automotive industry. In the past 18 months, the supply chain has seen several disruptions that worsened as new geopolitical events occurred. Rising material prices are hitting supplies, while logistics costs remain high, and the availability of major components such as semiconductors remains far below requirements. Moreover, the acceleration of electrification adds a layer of difficulty. Electric vehicles require many more semiconductors and rare earth materials, while the supply is still in shortage. Lately, China’s supply chain was hit with lockdowns, slowing down raw material processing and component deliveries that are critical to the automotive industry from a global perspective
