"Europe Container Terminals (ECT) is one of the leading and most advanced container terminal operator in Europe. The company handles a majority of the containers at the port of Rotterdam. ECT operates three terminals to this extent: the ECT Delta Terminal and the Euromax Terminal Rotterdam at the Maasvlakte (directly on the North Sea) and the ECT City Terminal in the Eemhaven area (close to the city centre). In 2014, ECT handled 7.7 million TEU. Under the name of European Gateway Services, ECT offers its clients an extended network of inland terminals and extended gates that are connected to the deepsea terminals in Rotterdam through high-frequency rail and inland shipping services. Extra services are added to these efficient connections, especially in the area of customs clearance."
