European Airfreight Volumes Improving Slowly, While Ocean Freight Just Treads Water

April 14, 2016

In April, the Stifel Logistics Confidence Index (LCI) saw little inspiration as it continued its YTD trend of slow growth off the December 2015 bottom. Global trade growth remains muted, in our view, and this month's Index results show that to be true, at least on major Europe-based air and ocean freight lanes. In general, airfreight recovered marginally, as ocean freight further stagnates, and Europe-U.S. lanes continue to operate closer to normal seasonal volumes, whereas Asia-based lanes are much weaker

GLOBAL SUPPLY CHAIN RISK MANAGEMENT PART 1: DIFFERENCES IN ATTITUDES

whitePaper | November 1, 2019

In the fall of 2009 MIT CTL conducted a global survey of supply chain risk experiences, attitudes, and risk management practices. Over 1400 supply chain professionals from 70 countries participated. The “Multi-Multi” Supply Chain Problem

whitePaper | May 13, 2022

Not only are we in state of constant disruption, but disruptions are here to stay. The cause of disruption may change; yesterday it may have been global health, today it may be political unrest, while tomorrow it may be trade related. Issues like inflation, material shortages, high performance pressures from customers, and capacity constraints will never be challenges businesses can overcome on their own – at least not complex or global businesses. It is an ecosystem problem, as issues can originate beyond the scope of one’s own internal network of factories, warehouses, and distribution centers.

Blockchain In Transportation

whitePaper | January 19, 2023

Blockchain has already made an impact on various industries — it is poised to change or even replace the infrastructure of the financial services industry, and other industries like transportation can expect disruption as well. Blockchain technology, like many new technologies, can completely transform the way in which we conduct business. Blockchain technology has a number of benefits but an underlying component of it involves trust. Business transactions between two or more parties have already moved from paper to digital in many applications. By leveraging blockchain, an industry can enable secured, digitized transactions with approval granted mutually by participating parties, tracked in a common history, and requiring no central authority.

Decarbonising Healthcare Supply Chains

whitePaper | November 17, 2022

The climate crisis is one of the most pressing risks to global health: [1] rising temperatures are resulting in an increase in hospital admissions and heat-related deaths; extreme weather events such as flooding and droughts are disrupting food systems, displacing people, and undermining access to healthcare; and changing patterns of water-borne and vector-borne diseases are threatening decades of progress in infectious disease control.[2] Climate change is also exacerbating the incidence of many non-communicable diseases (NCDs), including cardiovascular and respiratory illnesses, through increased air pollution, extreme heat, and other factors.[

Decarbonising Transport

whitePaper | June 30, 2022

Transport decarbonisation is a dull way of describing something much more exciting and far-reaching. Because transport is not just how you get around. It is something that fundamentally shapes our towns, our cities, our countryside, our living standards, our health, and our whole quality of life. It can shape all these things for good – or for bad.
