In 2019, threat actors began increasingly targeting third-party service providers including trusted partners and links in supply chains relied on by government agencies because they serve as a force multiplier in attacking organizations at scale. While the promise of less stringent security protocols was once the main draw toward third-party access, the 2019 CrowdStrike Services Cyber Front Lines Report found that threat actors also use this strategy to embolden the reach and tenacity of attack.
Control over the end-to-end supply chain lies in careful planning of both inbound and outbound activities, and without doubt, disasters and emergencies will eventually arise. The responsiveness of the supply chain depends on the ability of shippers to rapidly increase shipment volume to meet demand, as well as the ability of carriers to heed those demands. Moreover, sharing the right information in shipping urgency, including whether it is a true emergency shipping need, can literally be the difference between life and death, especially in the medical and pharmaceutical industries. So, let’s look at emergency shipping amid uncertainty and how a data driven TMS (transportation management system) can help.
Order picking is the most resource-intensive operation of a warehouse or fulfillment center. More than 55% of the operating cost for a warehouse is related to order picking, and fulfillment centers, the number stands at 50%. It is the process that can bring in the most cost savings with an effective, streamlined and efficient order picking system. One of the most important components of your order picking system is the warehouse order picking cart. Order picking carts are used to move inventory from the warehouse shelves to sorting or packing stations. They make it easier for warehouse associates to carry multiple items at a time or to carry large, unwieldy items. When it is possible to carry multiple items on a trip, it drastically reduces the distance traveled by associates on foot. It also helps to reduce physical fatigue and improves efficiency dramatically.
If 2019 was the year that 5G’s impact on transportation spluttered into life, then 2020 will see it move through the gears and start to transform the way we travel, from 5G-enabled cars to autonomous trains. With its low latency, reliability and powerful connections, 5G’s impact on transportation is starting to take shape, and it’s on our roads where there’s the greatest sense of anticipation. While the arrival of the much-vaunted, fully autonomous vehicle is still some way away, most of the world’s major car brands are set to release new 5G-enabled models which link into the internet of things and offer drivers and their passengers a wealth of new opportunities.
