Geotab with Synop to Provide Integrated EV Charging and Energy Management

Geotab with Synop to Provide Integrated

On February 14, 2023, Geotab Inc., one of the leaders in connected transportation solutions and Synop, the electric vehicle operations platform that optimizes energy usage and maximizes fleet uptime, announced a partnership to provide North America's fleet operators access to integrate EV charging and energy management within MyGeotab, Geotab's software platform.

Integrating Synop's software with Geotab's data insights gives customers access to manage their EV assets in real time on a single, integrated platform. Incorporating electric vehicles (EVs) into commercial fleets, which include rental cars, service vehicles, semi-trucks, delivery vans, government vehicles, and school buses, is difficult due to factors such as fluctuating energy costs, a need for multiple charging points, and lengthy charge cycles.

Within the existing platform of Geotab, fleet operators can quickly identify current charge levels without additional hardware or installation requirements. In addition, the operators can anticipate when vehicles are expected to be fully charged and scale the necessary energy needed for upcoming trips by evaluating fueling expenses and gaining the energy efficiency of each vehicle within the existing telematics platform. Additional controls for customers with requirements like energy time of use rates and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) support are included in the integration.

Synop is created to support all commercial EV types and charging infrastructures and provides interoperability across mixed-fuel fleets. It is designed to help large commercial fleets improve the efficiency of their electric vehicle operations and fulfill their environmental responsibility pledges.
