Fiege shoulders logistics for Palmers

Palmers, an Austria-based fashion retailer, has outsourced its storage needs to the contract logistics provider Fiege. In a mere four days, around one million items, the decoration warehouse and shop equipment were transferred to Fiege’s logistics centre in southern Vienna. To cope with this huge influx of goods, Fiege had to remove pallet shelving from two entire halls and erect a multi-storey facility. Goods will be delivered to around 300 Palmer shops, sales partners and online customers across the whole of Europe from the Fiege site in Vienna. Fiege will also take on Palmers’ logistics personnel as part of the business transfer and thus ensure jobs are kept. Christoph Mangelmans, Fiege’s MD fashion & online retail, declared: “A large number of employees have worked in Palmers’ logistics department for years. We won’t lose this knowledge and experience.” (mw)
