China to build 150 advanced logistic hubs by 2025

China’s top economic planning agencies, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and the Ministry of Transport, have revealed a joint plan to develop the country’s logistics hubs, earlier last week. According to the plan, China will continue to develop six different types of logistic hubs consisting of the inland harbor, cargo port, airport, service-oriented port, commerce, and trade-oriented port, and inland border port. The plan also includes the numbers of advanced logistic hubs the country intends to build in the future. The agencies plan to build 30 logistic hubs in the next two years and by the year 2025, the construction of 150 ports will be finalized. The ports will be built in 127 cities, including Shanghai, Nanjing, Beijing, Tianjin, Shenzhen, and Fuzhou among others. These logistic hubs will be encouraged to integrate technology and automation into its operation. This will include the automation of ports, the development of smart warehouses, the use of unmanned vehicles, robots, and drones, to increase the efficiency of operation.
