Blume Global Pledges to Achieve Carbon Neutrality and Innovates to Enhance Supply Chain Sustainability
Blume Global | April 23, 2021
Blume Global, a leading supplier of logistics and supply chain solutions fuelled by the world's first internationally connected multi-modal network, has announced that it will shortly become carbon neutral. South Pole, a leading climate solutions provider, and project developer has worked with the organization to create a cleaner supply chain by drastically reducing its own emissions (Scope 1, 2, and 3). Blume is now reducing waste in the supply chain sector by using its domestic reload and the street turns solutions, among other services.
Blume and South Pole are working to improve sustainability practices through greenhouse gas accounting and have built an emissions-reduction strategy that will be reviewed and renewed on an annual basis. The proposal addresses both direct and indirect emissions from sources owned or regulated by Blume, as well as emissions from business practices such as travel, commuting, and waste disposal. Blume is engaging in carbon-offset projects to reduce its existing carbon footprint.
The sustainability of supply chains is a pervasive concern. According to the MIT Center for Transportation & Logistics and the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals' State of Supply Chain Sustainability 2020 study, more than 80% of the 1,100 stakeholders surveyed reported sustainability as a target or something that was fast becoming a major corporate objective. More than half of those surveyed said they were under pressure to implement supply chain sustainability practices. Despite these statistics, less than half of those surveyed could recognize actionable sustainability goals.
Blume anticipates the inevitable restrictions on greenhouse gas emissions and offers the required expertise, technology, and data to stakeholders to minimize excessive carbon emissions in the supply chain. Blume creates, maintains, and promotes a purposeful supply chain ecosystem, with the responsibility of making any movement of goods count.
