Using Unmanned Aerial Systems in Transportation Planning and Emergency Response

For the past two years a team from the UVM TRC and the Spatial Analysis Lab at the Rubenstein School has been piloting the use of UAS technology for a variety of purposes to improve planning, decision-making and responses to emergency in regard to transportation infrastructure and systems. Working broadly with industry, VTrans, regional planning commissions and towns the team has explored a variety of applications and value to the use of the UAS system and the analysis of the imagery that it can supply. This session will provide an overview of the project and an update on new ideas for future applications.
