Almost 14 months ago we wrote one of our most popular posts entitled, “The History of Supply Chain and Logistics Management” contained a bit of history, definitions, and a great infographic visually going through the history of supply chain and logistics management. Today, we bring you yet another infographic. We feel infographics are a great way to explain a big idea. In this infographic you will learn, for example, that the global market value for logistics has surpassed $4trillion.

Olympic Shipping and Management S.A.

Aristotle S. Onassis initially based his shipping enterprise in New York. Then, in 1952, he established Olympic Maritime in Paris in order to manage his shipping assets from Europe. In 1953, Olympic transferred its offices in to Monte Carlo, where it remained until 1977. In 1990, Olympic Maritime was renamed Olympic Shipping and Management S.A. Since 1997, its head office has been in Paleo Phaleron, Athens, from where it acts as principal agent of the fleet. Currently, the fleet comprises 21 crude oil tankers and 10 bulk carriers with a total carrying capacity of 6.1 million dwt. The company has assigned the technical management of the tanker fleet to Springfield Shipping Co. Panama SA., while Olympic Vision Maritime Inc. has undertaken the management of the bulk fleet.
