The Shipping Platform of the Web 3.0

June 6, 2018

Today, shipping industry accounts of
around 90% of the value of the World
Trade. Shipping is the life blood of
the global economy. Without shipping, intercontinental trade, the bulk
transport of raw materials, and the
import/export of affordable food and
manufactured goods would simply
not be possible. This hugely valuable
industry has been troubled for years
by challenges like overcapacity,
highly variable freight rates, security
threats and increasing regulations.
On the other hand, local producers,
charterers and shippers, especially
the ones operating from developing
countries, are facing several problems when it comes to shipping, like
the high number of intermediaries,
the expensive freight rates, the lack
of transparency, the limited number
of sea lines, and the difficulties in
shipping small cargo.

Zero Ready Framework Ensuring shipping can deliver our zero emissions future

whitePaper | November 10, 2022

Shipping faces a critical challenge. The energy transition is well underway and ocean going zero carbon ships must be in service by 2030. The industry is currently focussed on delivering zero Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions by fuelling with renewably sourced ammonia, hydrogen or methanol. But solutions for widespread deployment are not ready yet and ships built today have expected lifetimes of 20-30 years. So, the industry now thinks in terms of ‘readiness’, the ability to ensure that a vessel can use zero carbon fuel once this becomes feasible, either by building new vessels that have this capability from the day they are built, or by ensuring existing vessels can be easily converted.

2022 & Beyond: Continued Challenges in the Automotive Supply Chain

whitePaper | February 28, 2022

While our inboxes are flooded on a daily basis with news about how the pandemic has created supply chain and commodities issues, global organizations must think about more than just near-term issues. Although the pandemic will recede, long-term factors like geo-politics, evolving governance standards, changes in regulations, environmental and tax laws, and implementation of new trade agreements will force a reorientation of global supply chains. From Master Data driving ERP software to real-time IoT streams enabling fine grain tracking and optimization, Data is omnipresent when dealing with Supply Chain processes. However, the abundant information is not always leveraged to actually improve the overall flow. Often locked away in specialized software, siloed between departments of the same company or simply not made accessible to business practitioners, the premise of a data-driven Supply Chain falls short of expectations. At IRIS by Argon & Co, we help our clients to build high-performing global Supply Chains by leveraging the power and benefits of Data S
